About Care-Tech Research

Care-Tech Research is a small family business, started in Toronto in 1973 by Marten Gabriel, a Rolfer® and industrial designer; assisted by his wife Laara, a Registered Massage Therapist. After many years manufacturing tables in Delta, on the shores of the Fraser River near Vancouver, British Columbia; CareTech Research moved to Fanny Bay, on Vancouver Island, in late 2004.

Some Care-Tech Research innovations over the years:

  • In the early 80's, Rejuvacare (forerunner of Care-Tech Research) introduced the first face rest crescent, as a separate piece from the table with different foam densities. Michael DuBois collaborated in this project.
  • Rejuvacare manufactured the world’s first — and still the only — portable electric lift table. Al Turner collaborated in this effort.
  • Care-Tech Research built the first “expansion top” on any therapy table.
  • Care-Tech Research has consistently built lift tables that go lower than any other table on the market.
  • Care-Tech Research pioneered the idea of easy removable tops, no tools needed.
